In Cobb County, Georgia, a driver suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) is confronting multiple charges following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 285 Wednesday night.
Authorities report that the incident occurred prior to midnight in the southbound lanes of I-285, just south of Paces Ferry Road.
Investigations reveal that a white 2017 Porsche Panamera, operated by 42-year-old Cedric J. Curne of Atlanta, collided with the rear of a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 54-year-old Elias J. Poulakis from Sharpsburg. This initial collision triggered subsequent wrecks on the interstate.
According to officials, 30-year-old Aaron S. Morriss from Mableton, driving a silver 2024 Hyundai Tucson, maneuvered to avoid the Porsche, striking the interior wall. Simultaneously, a patrol car from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office collided with the rear of the Porsche and then collided with Morriss’ Hyundai.
Medical personnel transported Morriss and a child passenger to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with minor injuries. The deputy involved in the accident sustained a significant but non-life-threatening injury and is currently receiving treatment at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Curne was arrested and charged with following too closely, DUI less safe, failure to remove his vehicle after an accident on an expressway, and serious injury by vehicle.
